That picture was taken in 1995. Let's see...I was seven? eight? This picture holds so many memories for me. First of all, so many things were happening around this time in my life. It's amazing to just see a picture of us - just smiling. If you look closely, you'll notice several things. One is the shirt my sister is wearing. Smile, and the world smiles with you...Fart, and you stand alone. I remember that shirt so vividly. It used to make me laugh so much; I thought my sister was quite possibly the funniest girl on the planet.
Another thing you'll notice is the bed. I remember when I got that bed - it must have been the Christmas before this picture was taken. Kim took Dennie, my brother, and me out to see the Christmas lights on Christmas Eve while Santa, ahem - my parents, were busy placing new beds and what-not in our rooms for the following morning. I remember trying to be funny and sticking my head out the window, hair flapping wildly, trying to be like Chance in Homeward Bound. Do you remember the scene? The animals are all in the car, and he yells, Ahhhh, BAT DOG! Anyway, I remember laughing and giggling, pointing wild-eyed at some of the crazy displays in some of the yards. (Rednecks?)
Also, if you look closely, you'll notice the teddy bear wallpaper and the feet of many toys on the second bunk. Sigh. All the afternoons spent with my toys...I still have most of them. Sure, I've grown up and don't actually play with them anymore. Now they're in a bag in the attic at my parent's house. Suffocating, probably. It's like my grandmother said, "She used to dress all pretty and play with make up." Or something like that. I used to be a little girl.
You'll also notice the hat my sister is wearing. When she moved out, she left it behind. I took it upon myself to become its owner. Then I lost it. That hat used to mean so much to me, mainly because I hated my parents for different reasons (teenage angst, perhaps?), and to me it was a way for me to remain close to my sister. It's funny now that I think about it - I hate wearing hats.
Anyway, I haven't talked to my sister in a while. I wonder what she's up to? She's gorgeous and has a wonderful family. I absolutely love staying with her. We watch movies, eat out, go shopping - and I hate shopping. But Kim is so vibrant that you can't help but love whatever you're doing with her. She's an excellent cook. Or atleast I think she is. She makes yummy cakes. And her kids, wow, they're amazing. And Ashley, her husband, is an absolute trip. He's sarcastic with a dash loads of dry humor to make you laugh for hours.
Hi, Kim and Ash.
